Foundational Level (Balvatika to Class 2)

National Education Policy (NEP 2020)

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE guidelines, the Board has deliberated and approved a common policy to  introduce Balvatika as part of the foundational stage across all Indian Schools in Oman. This initiative commenced from the Academic Year 2025-26 and  implemented as detailed below:

  • AY 2025–26: Balvatika (Pre-KG), KG I & KG II

  • AY 2026–27: Balvatika-I, Balvatika-II, KG II

  • AY 2027–28: Balvatika-I, Balvatika-II, Balvatika-III

  • Balvatika: 3 years (not yet 4)
  • KG I: 4 years (not yet 5)
  • KG II: 5 years (not yet 6)
  • Class I: 6 years (not yet 7)
  • KG 1 & KG 2: Continuous assessment.

  • Classes 1 to 8: Two-term system each year.

    • Term 1 (April–September): Periodic Assessment 1 (PA1) + Half-Yearly Exam

    • Term 2 (October–March): Periodic Assessment 2 (PA2) + Annual Exam

  • Additional tests: Unit, oral, class, and cycle tests after completion of each topic or unit

Foundation Stage – Balvatika to Class 2

Preparatory Level (Class 3 to Class 5)

Focuses on building strong academic foundations, introducing more structured subjects, and developing communication and reasoning skills.

Middle Stage (Class 6 to Class 8)

Emphasis on analytical thinking, subject specialisation, and practical application of knowledge

Academic Time Table

Balanced schedules to ensure equal focus on all subjects.

Secondary Stage ( Class 9 to Class 10 )

Focuses on in-depth conceptual understanding of subjects based on NCERT curriculum and develops core analytical skills for higher education.

Languages Offered

Optional languages: Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam.

Co-Curricular Activities

Areas: Arts, Sports, Physical Education, Skill Education. Assessment Criteria: Regularity, participation, output, teamwork.

GK & Moral Education

Covers current events, awareness, and moral values (honesty, empathy, civic sense, etc.).
